Shadowbanning

Shadowbanning is a term used in social media to describe the practice where a user’s content is partially or entirely hidden from others without their knowledge.

While the user can still post, engage, and see their content, it becomes less visible or undiscoverable by the wider community—often impacting hashtags, search results, and feed placements.

This is typically done as a moderation tool to limit content that violates platform guidelines or appears spammy.
