Profile photos and banners: watch the overlap
LinkedIn layers your circular profile photo over the bottom-left corner of your banner, on both personal profiles and company pages. A banner designed edge to edge will lose that corner behind your face. When you crop a 1584 × 396 banner, keep names, taglines, and logos in the right two-thirds of the frame, and give your 400 × 400 profile photo generous headroom since the circle trims all four corners.
Post images that hold up in the feed
LinkedIn shows shared images at roughly 1200 × 627 in the feed, and it letterboxes anything that strays far from its supported ratios. Square 1080 × 1080 and portrait 1080 × 1350 images are also displayed cleanly and claim more scroll height on mobile, which matters for charts, quotes, and carousels that need to be read rather than glanced at.
A professional network judges pixels
A pixelated headshot or a stretched banner undermines an otherwise strong profile. Start from the largest original you have, crop to the exact target size, and export PNG for anything with text or a logo. When the image is part of a content plan rather than a profile update, drop it into a LinkedIn scheduler and let it publish at working hours, when the feed is busiest.
Questions, answered
What size should a LinkedIn profile photo be?
Upload at 400 × 400 pixels or larger. LinkedIn displays it as a circle, so center your face and leave breathing room at the edges, anything in the corners gets trimmed away.
What size is a LinkedIn banner?
Personal profile banners are 1584 × 396 pixels, a wide 4:1 strip. Remember that your profile photo covers the bottom-left corner, so keep text and logos to the center and right.
What size should LinkedIn post images be?
Shared images display at about 1200 × 627 pixels in the feed. Square 1080 × 1080 and portrait 1080 × 1350 formats also render cleanly and take up more room as people scroll.
Why does my LinkedIn banner look cut off?
LinkedIn crops banners differently on desktop and mobile, and the profile photo overlaps the bottom-left. If you place key content near the edges it will disappear on some screens, so crop with the middle of the frame in mind.
Why do LinkedIn images look pixelated?
Usually the source image was smaller than the display size, forcing LinkedIn to stretch it. This tool warns you when your crop is below the target resolution so you can pick a larger source.
Does this LinkedIn photo resizer cost anything?
No. It is free with no account needed, and there is no watermark on the downloaded image.
Is my photo kept private?
Yes. The resize happens locally in your browser. Nothing is sent to a server, so your photo stays on your device the whole time.
