Connect Gemini

The Gemini CLI connects to the Pallyy MCP server with one command and a Pallyy API key sent as a header. Once connected, Gemini can list what's scheduled, create and edit posts for every connected network, import media from a URL, and manage calendar notes, all from the terminal. The Gemini app's custom apps can't connect to Pallyy yet, see the note below. The server is included on every Pallyy plan.

• A Pallyy API key with the permissions Gemini should have.

How to connect the Gemini CLI

Gemini takes the server URL and the key in a single command:

1. In Pallyy, open Settings > API keys and create a key named Gemini. Grant Edit posts, add Upload media if Gemini should import files, leave Publish posts off to keep it drafting, and restrict the key to one social set if it should only see one client.
2. Add the server with the key as the Authorization header.

3. Start gemini and run /mcp. Pallyy is listed as connected with its 15 tools.

The same server can live in the Gemini CLI settings file instead, for a shared team configuration:

Keep the key out of shared repositories by using a user-level settings file or an environment variable.

Why the Gemini app can't connect yet

The Gemini app adds custom apps under Settings > Connected Apps and signs in to them with OAuth, redirecting back to Google's domain. Pallyy's authorization server only accepts redirects to claude.ai, chatgpt.com, cursor.com, or a local address, so the sign-in fails. The Gemini CLI avoids the problem by sending the API key directly.

Which permissions should the Gemini key have?

Edit posts is the one it needs to create and change drafts. Add Upload media if it should import images or videos from links. Leave Publish posts off unless you want Gemini to schedule posts that publish without a review, and restrict the key to one social set for client work.

Can Gemini read files from my computer and turn them into posts?

Yes, for text. Point the CLI at a brief or a changelog on disk and ask for the week's posts, and Gemini writes a caption per network and saves the drafts through Pallyy. Images on disk need to be hosted at a public URL before Gemini can import them.

How do I disconnect Gemini?

Delete the key under Settings > API keys in Pallyy. The connection stops immediately, and post history keeps the key's name on everything Gemini did.

Does the Gemini CLI cost anything?

No. The Gemini CLI is free to use with a Google account, and the Pallyy MCP server is on every Pallyy plan. Posts Gemini creates count toward your plan's monthly post limit.
