Connect Perplexity

Perplexity connects to the Pallyy MCP server as a custom connector authenticated with a Pallyy API key. Once connected, Perplexity can list what's scheduled, create and edit posts for every connected network, import media from a URL, and manage calendar notes, which turns a research thread into drafts on the calendar. The server is included on every Pallyy plan.

What you need

• A Pallyy account on any plan, Free included.
• Perplexity Pro, Max, or Enterprise, which are the plans with custom connectors. On Enterprise an administrator decides whether members can add their own connectors or share one across the organization.
• A Pallyy API key with the permissions Perplexity should have.

How to connect Perplexity

Perplexity takes the server URL and the key in its custom connector form:

1. In Pallyy, open Settings > API keys and create a key named Perplexity. Grant Edit posts, add Upload media if it should import files, and leave Publish posts off to keep it drafting.
2. In Perplexity, open your profile menu, choose All settings, then Connectors, and click + Custom connector.
3. Name it Pallyy and paste https://app.pallyy.com/mcp as the server URL.
4. Expand Advanced, set Authentication to API Key, paste your Pallyy key, and keep Transport as Streamable HTTP.
5. Tick the acknowledgement, click Add, and open the connector to finish. Enable Pallyy as a source in the prompt box and ask away.

Pallyy expects the key as a bearer token in the Authorization header, which is what the API Key option sends.

Why Perplexity uses an API key

Perplexity can sign in to MCP servers with OAuth, but its sign-in redirects to Perplexity's own domain, and Pallyy's authorization server only accepts redirects to claude.ai, chatgpt.com, cursor.com, or a local address. The API Key option gives Perplexity the same access, bounded by the key's permissions and social set restriction.

Frequently asked questions

Which permissions should the Perplexity key have?

Edit posts lets it create and change drafts. Upload media lets it import images from links it found or you provided. Publish posts is best left off so nothing goes live from a thread unread, and a social set restriction keeps the connector to one client.

Can Perplexity add an image from a source to a post?

Yes, if the image has a public URL and you have the rights to use it. Give Perplexity the link and it imports the file into the media library through the connector, then uses it in the post. Perplexity can't pass a file from the thread itself.

Do I need a paid Perplexity plan?

Yes. Custom connectors are available on Perplexity Pro, Max, and Enterprise. Pallyy's side is included on every Pallyy plan.

How do I disconnect Perplexity?

Delete the key under Settings > API keys in Pallyy. The connector stops working immediately, and a new key reconnects it.
