Posting great content at the wrong time is one of the easiest ways to waste it. Most social feeds are algorithmic now, but early engagement still matters: a post that picks up likes and comments in its first hour gets shown to more people, and your audience needs to be online for that to happen.
There is no single time that works for every account, but the research is consistent about the patterns: weekday mornings and early afternoons perform well on professional platforms, evenings and weekends skew better for entertainment platforms, and your own audience data beats any global average.
Below is a quick overview of every platform we have studied, with a dedicated day-by-day guide for each.
Best time to post on Instagram
Our Instagram study is our most detailed one, based on an analysis of 1.2 million posts. It covers the best global posting times, the best time for each day of the week, and how engagement shifts between feed posts and Reels. Read the full guide to the best time to post on Instagram.
Posting mainly at the end of the work week? We also looked specifically at the best time to post on Instagram on Friday.
Best time to post on Facebook
Facebook engagement leans toward weekday daytime hours, but the details vary by audience and page type. Our guide covers a study of 1 million Facebook posts, day-by-day recommendations, and how to check your own page's peak times in Meta's insights. See the best time to post on Facebook.
Best time to post on TikTok
TikTok behaves differently from the other platforms: content can surface on the For You page days after posting, but launching a video while your audience is active still gives it a stronger start. Our guide covers global peak times, times for reaching audiences in the USA, and each day of the week. See the best time to post on TikTok.
Best time to post on LinkedIn
LinkedIn is a working-hours platform, and posting outside them usually costs you reach. Our guide summarizes the latest research on weekday mornings, the midweek sweet spot, and the times to avoid. See the best time to post on LinkedIn.
Best time to post on Twitter
Conversations on Twitter (now X) move faster than on any other network, so timing matters more per post. Our guide collects the findings from several studies, broken down by day of the week. See the best time to post on Twitter.
How to find your own best time to post
Global studies are a starting point, not an answer. Your audience has its own habits, time zones and routines, and the only way to find your real peak times is to look at your own data:
- Check your native insights. Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and LinkedIn all show you when your followers are most active.
- Track engagement over time. Compare reach and engagement across posts published at different times of day. Our social media analytics reports do this across every platform in one place.
- Test and repeat. Pick two or three candidate time slots, post consistently in each for a few weeks, and keep the winners.
Once you know your times, the hard part is actually hitting them every day. That is what social media scheduling is for: queue your posts in advance and they go out at your chosen times whether you are online or not.
